Earth...is no more. Too many wars had scarred the surface and poisoned all beneath...the survival of humanity lay in the stars. A war...The War...yet another of countless pointless squabbles that humanity is so fraught with...nearly destroyed this hope. The War was not confined to the battlefield but instead ravaged every corner of the Earth. In the darkest of days Lunar scientists found something at the edge of the Solar System...a discovery that could save the human race...

A Black Hole! Many theories pointed that they could be used as portals to anywhere, but never could they be reached with such ease. Somehow one massive black hole had appeared in the edge of the solar system, far enough that it would not tear the planets from orbit but close enough to be reached with fusion drives. For the first time in their lives, the War was almost forgotten from the minds of the Lunar scientists... The War still raged below them, the Normerican forces ground against the Eurasian strongholds in a seemingly endless dance of death...

Faced with the madness they witnessed daily from their satellites circling the burning Earth, the Lunar scientists and all their brethren combined their resources and built a fleet of massive ships, using a barely understood form of shielding. This shield used an enigmatic element only recently discovered...Dark Matter. Each ship held everything needed to start a new colony if any habitable worlds were found...but none among the crew knew if there were any to be found...

Another unknown was that they were not the only ones who had found the Black Hole. The Martian Colony noticed the frantic construction starting on the dark side of the moon and quickly started a project of their own. The race was on...but it was not meant to be just a race between two remnants of humanity... A traitor to the Martian Colony, one man, escaped the red planet and launched himself across the void to warn the powers still warring on Earth...

Faced with utter annihilation, the Lunar scientists launched their untested ships with their precious cargo...their children. The colonization fleet did not hesitate, they plunged into the abyss...to vanish. The scientists were to focused on the event, until it was too late. The two smoldering empires of Earth had launched their own fleets as the fleet from Mars was nearing the edge of the event horizon...

The theories regarding black hole transit were not able to prepare the ships crews for what happened next. Each ship was ripped from the known universe and launched through time and space... Though the crew scarcely felt the passage of time, their instruments and sensors showed their destination...and that they were approaching it at an astronomical velocity. Somehow the Dark Matter shields held their ships together or they would have been flattened from the gravity forces. Their destination lay in front of them, seemingly a spiral Galaxy...but much larger...

The Galaxy was not a Galaxy...it was thousands of Galaxies closely held together by a massive anomaly...something Human science had not yet discovered and named. It was seemingly a Universe of its own, in its own bubble of time...with no explanation on how it came into being. When a slim portion was analyzed, the Colonists were elated. Literally thousands of habitable worlds with whole star systems of empty planets. The shock of arrival seemingly wiped all histories between former enemies...each Colony ship chose their own destination, gently guiding their now slowing ships with short bursts from their fusion engines.
